DAY to
NIGHT

Objective: To use Photoshop to turn a daytime photograph into a night scene!

1. Launch Photoshop. Navigate to the Shared Documents folder and open "Santa Fe, NM".

2. Your job is to use the tools in Photoshop to change this photograph into a night scene! The idea is to use the tools available in Photoshop to alter and modify the existing photo data... The resulting image should look like a photograph, not a painting!

Begin by using tools in the Image: Adjustments Menu to modify the tonal qualitities, so that it is darker and more evocative of night. (Examine the examples at right.)

Select areas (such as sky) and try using curves (use all channels) and brightness and contrast to get started. You might also try carefully placed gradients (on a new layer) to create "sundown" effects.
