POSITIVE /NEGATIVE SPACE:

NOTE: In order to receive complete credit for this assignment, both the practice set (due Friday, Sept. 22) AND the completed journal must be accomplished. The assignment MUST be in the journal: not on other paper or pasted in.

DIRECTIONS: Using the same materials and procedures as the practice set demonstrated in class, complete a pos/neg space design that reflects your portfolio theme. A minimum of 5 changes, as demonstrated will be required for credit. Be sure your planning, craftsmanship, execution and "shapes" reflect the complexity appropriate for an advanced level class. It should show considerable work.

After your design is properly glued into your journal (NO TAPE!), use colored pencil or other media to color the negative space (white area) using gradients. Remember that gradients may blend from one color to another, or a color to black or white. Use careful shading, and consider your color choices carefully. They should not be "random", but planned and designed for maximum visual effect!
