DoubleTake!
Objective: Using the tools in Photoshop, make fifteen alterations to a photograph that are not immediatly apparent! The changes must be subtle enough to go unnoticed on first inspection!
Step One: Go online and find a high resolution (minimum 72 dpi) photo with lots of color and detail. Drag it to the desktop and open it in Photoshop.
Step Two: Resize your photo to 10 inches wide. (Image: Image Size>Document Size) The height will be automatically set. Your photo should be sharp and clear, when viewed at 100%. To test this, go to the bottom left side of your window, and set the zoom factor to 100%. Return. LOOK at your photo critically. If it is NOT clear (if it's pixely) you need to find another photo before you proceed.
Step Three: If your photo is good, SAVE it as YLNI double.
Step Four: Next, duplicate your Background layer and turn it off.
Step Five: Identify 15 areas to "change" on your photo. Each change MUST be on a separate layer. Create a new layer for each change. The original photo should be untouched.
You may change your photo by adding or subtracting details within the photo. The only restrictions are that it must look "real", and it should be subtle, hidden changes. The viewer should NOT be able to easily spot your changes, when seeing the original photo and your remade photo, side by side. Make them work for it!
The best tool for this job is the Clone Stamp Tool (rubber stamp) and the Healing Tool!.
Step Six: When you have successfully made 15 changes to your photo, set up a new file to show your "before" and "after" photos.
Open
a NEW Photoshop file, 24"x18".
Drag guidelines to the 1" mark on all four sides.
Step Seven: Position your original photo on the left, lined up with the left margin. Position the altered photo on the right, along the right margin. (Two inches should remain in the middle). Center the photos vertically, on the page.
Use the Text Tool to write e"DoubleTake" along the top.
Type your name along the bottom. Center your name.
