Directions for Button Making

Step One:
Launch Photoshop.
Create a new file: 12"x 6",
150 dpi* (resolution), RGB, background transparent.
*(Note: change the resolution as necessary for a higher resolution file!)

FILE NAME: YLNIbutton

Step Two: Select the circle tool (under rectangle selection tool).

Step Three: Look at the top of the window and find the STYLE pull down menu. Select "Fixed Size".
To the right of the Style Menu, type in a Width and Height of 3.5. (It should automatically say inches!)

Step Four: Next, drag a circle onto your file. It will be exactly 3.5" in circumference.

Step Five: Now, open the file you want to use. (In this case, your Quad!) When the file is ready, Select All and Copy. (Note: File must be flattened if it has layers. Be sure not to save them this way!)

Step Six: Use the PASTE INTO command. Scale and adjust your file to fit. The circle should be filled, with no straight edges showing.

Step Seven: Next, go to the LAYERS MENU and Merge Visible layers. Duplicate the layer. Use your MOVE tool to move it right. If the background overlaps the first circle, use the Magic Wand to select the background and delete it.

Step Eight: Make sure your file is saved, and named correctly. Follow the directions below!

When finished, send your buttons to the Printing Dropbox using the following IP address:
10.53.36.138. Go in as a "Guest" and use the "Student Account". Put your file in the dropbox. DO NOT send more than one file.

THE LAST DAY to send a file to the dropbox for printing is Tuesday, December 19th.
Anything sent by Tuesday should be ready to take home by Thursday (barring electrical problems or equipment failure!)

Button making will begin Wed and continue thru Thursday for those people who have printed!
