Absences, Notes, Yellow Slips, ID’s, etc.

IF YOU ARE ABSENT, follow these steps:
1. Upon returning, put your yellow slip (or note, if your class is Period 1) in the blue tray on my desk. (Pick it up on your way out!)
2. Go online to the class website for information. Check the calendar to see the objectives for that day you missed, and what we did in class.2. Check the HANDOUTS webpage and the ARCHIVE DOCS if you've missed any handouts.
3. See me after school or during the second half of my planning period to get any information you may have missed. (Per 3)
4. Come to the Graphics Lab for make up time. Because this is a skills based class, you are expected to make up time and practice. This is how you recover the classwork points lost when you are absent.

Most days, the Graphics Lab is open after school for 45 minutes most days. Please let me know you are coming, so that I won't lock up and go home!

PERIOD 1: NOTES FOR ABSENCES should be presented first thing in the morning, as we are taking care of attendance. It is your responsibility to pick up new or signed yellow slips from the tray at the end of the period. Please realize that your note must be written with one of the state approved reasons for being absent. The most common of these are: personal illness, court order (attach paperwork) & death in the family. (Please read the county guidelines carefully for who is covered under death in the family). Any notes presented with reasons other than the State Approved reasons will result in an UNEXCUSED yellow slip. (Note: family emergency, personal problems, family business, babysitting, weddings, vacation, etc, are NOT state approved reasons.)

Need a Temporary ID?

It’s your responsibility to let me know you need an ID if I don’t catch it! Bring it to my attention after the Warm Up.
BUS SLIPS for late legal arrivals must have your name, and the stamped time and date. Place in the above tray.

PERIODS 2-7: Please place your yellow slip in the blue tray on my desk marked "NOTES". It is your responsibility to pick it up on the
way out of class.

PERIOD 8: Please place your yellow slip in the blue tray on my desk marked "notes". It will not be returned to you.

OTHER STUFF FOR ME TO SIGN:
Progress reports, sports reports, field trip forms, or any other kind of form I need to read and sign also go in the designated tray. It’s your job to pick them up at the end of class. Please be responsible for getting these forms to me on time. DO NOT interrupt other classes with these items.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT Sports, Field Trips, and other school approved activities:
Many times students are part of a planned school event, field trip, SGA event, Cheerleader activity or sports/team event. These are considered excused, however, if you have homework due that day YOU MUST TURN IT IN prior to leaving or participating in the event in order to receive credit. This means, if you have a baseball game during your afternoon class, your homework is still due that day! If you reported to the building for any reason you are responsible for handing in any work due that day! Follow the procedure above to see what you missed.

An example: You play tennis. You will be missing 7th period Computer Graphics due to a tennis match. There is a journal (homework) assignment due that day. You must turn in the journal (homework) assignment prior to leaving, in order to receive credit. You may bring it buy between classes, before school, or send it with a buddy (realizing that if the buddy doesn't follow thru, it will be your responsibility!) Late assignments are not accepted, so you will receive a failing grade if you turn it in the next school day.
