Photoshop: Shapes
Please complete the exercise below, take a screen shot and add it to your portfolio.
STEP ONE: Open a New Photoshop file that is 12x16", RGB, resolution 150, white background. Save it as YLNI shapes.
STEP TWO:
Find the Shapes tool in the toolbar (see left illustration).
Hold down the mouse to find the nested shape tools. Choose the Custom Shape
Tool (looks
like a squishy star).
Next, go to the Menubar at the top, and find the Custom Shape Picker (it has the Yin Yang symbol above) and click on the Blue Arrow to see various shapes.
STEP THREE: To draw a shape, simply click on a shape, move your mouse to the page and drag while holding the mouse button.
STEP FOUR: To change it's color, go to the Layer window and double click on the Layer Tumbnail (looks like a little screen).
STEP FIVE: Add a layer style! Go to the bottom of the Layer Window and find the last button the the left. Experiment!
Your Job: Fill your page with an interesting compositon that uses many shapes! Think creatively, and be sure it has a clear center of attention, uses many different shapes and has a colorful background.
