Photoshop: Shapes

Please complete the exercise below, and save it on your flashdrive as "YLNIshapes". It will be turned in as an assessment grade on Friday.

STEP ONE: Open a New Photoshop file that is 12x16", RGB, resolution 150, white background. Save it as YLNIshapes.

STEP TWO: Find the Shapes tool in the toolbar (highlighted on left).
Hold down the mouse until the Custom Shape Tool is selected (shown left, it looks like a squishy star).

Next, go to the Menubar at the top, and find the Custom Shape Picker (it has the Yin Yang symbol above) and click on the Blue Arrow to see various shapes.

STEP THREE: To draw a shape, simply click on a shape, move your mouse to the page and drag while holding the mouse button.

Fill your page with an interesting compositon that uses many shapes! Think creatively, and be sure it has a clear center of attention.

EXPERIMENT WITH THE FOLLOWING:

Change the color of your shape by doubleclicking the little black screen shaped icon in your Layers.
To use a gradient, find STYLES in the menu bar at the top of the page. Any of these can be altered or adjusted, just as with any gradient.
To Resize/reshape your shapes, go to EDIT: TRANSFORM PATH. Select scale, rotate, etc.
Add dropshadows, bevel and emboss, outline, outer glow, texture, pattern, etc. Simply go to LAYER: Layer Styles.
Add more shapes! Go to the Custom Shape picker and find the small arrow pointing right. Click on it to reveal the menu that says "Load Shapes" . Go to Applications>Adobe Photoshop>Presets>Custom Shapes. Select shapes to load. (You can also download shapes off the internet!)
