Before you close it, be sure to make a screen shot and save it in your "Screen Shot" folder
MINI
LESSON:#1
Go to SHARED DOCUMENTS>Photos To Use folder, and open: Ephesus,
Turkey.
Create a gradient in the sky that is red, and white (colors
of the Turkish flag). Notice the windows in ruin!! Be sure to hold your Shift
Key and collect all the windows. They must be included in the selection. !
MINI LESSON #2
Go to SHARED DOCUMENTS>Photos To Use folder, and open: Copenhagen.psd
1. GRADIENT: Put a gradient in the sky that is purple and yellow.
2. RUBBER STAMP/CLONE STAMP TOOL: Edit out the people
in the lower right hand corner. Cover them with water.
Be careful to make the water look natural!
3. VARIATIONS: Change the color of 3 of the houses
using variations. (Image>Adjustments>Variations).
MINI LESSON #3
Go to SHARED DOCUMENTS>Photos To Use folder, and open: Amalfi Coastline
Go to the Image Menu: Adjustments: Shadows/Highlights.
Use
a combination of Shadows and Highlights AND Curves and
Brightness/Contrast to
make this photo come out of the fog!
Colors should be rich, shapes should
be crisp and the haze should
be gone. Experiment! Next, use the rubber stamp
to get rid of the
finger in the upper left corner AND the metal in the lower
left corner.
Fill the space with more vegetation. Remember that you may need
to
Option key-click several times in order to make it right!
MINI LESSON #4
Go to SHARED DOCUMENTS>Photos
To Use folder, and open: "Venice 2".
1. Use the following tools to adjust the photo. Try to bring out some of the
details in the horse. Try to do this without making it look unreal.
Brightness & Contrast
Shadow & Highlight
2. Next, use the Rubber Stamp to get rid of the black area in the top right
corner. You don't need to worry about a bounding box, since there is nothing
to "protect".
3. Use the Magic Wand to select all four of the arched windows on the top,
left side of the building. Zoom in, and hold the shift key to gather them
up.
4. Use the PASTE INTO command to paste something into the windows that is
unexpected! You may use any of the photos located in the Photos To Use folder,
or open up one of your own works (quads, house project, etc. Remember that
to do this, you may first need to save your "paste into" image as
a PICT or JPEG file in order to open it in Photoshop!)
5. Change the color of the
building (the brick). Use Variations for this, the same way you did in the
Copenhagen photo.
6. Use the Rubber Stamp/Clone Stamp Tool to get rid of the pole (located to
the right of the horse).
6. Next, Open "San Marco Piazza, Venice". Use your rubber stamp
to take some birds from this photo, into Venice 2. Some of your birds should
be flying one directions, some another. Be sure the birds are on new layers.
Also, be sure to get rid of any blue around the birds that does not match
the current sky!
Mini Lesson 4B (Click to link to lesson!)
Mini Lesson 5a: Find the image of Dr. King (right) and drag it to your desktop. Open it in Photoshop (FILE: OPEN). Next, go to IMAGE>MODE>RGB COLOR. Now, use your Photoshop skills to add color and to create a page that commemorates Dr. King. (Hint: one way is to use Variations!) Use your best skills.Use the Text Tool to write: "Remembering Dr. King". (Note: don't get hung up on this. If you get stuck, move on and get something else done!) When you are finished, take a screenshot and add it to your portfolio. Give it an appropriate title.
MINI LESSON #5
Read all directions before you begin!
Go to SHARED DOCUMENTS>Photos To Use folder, and open: The Palace of
Catherine the Great & Pompeii, Italy, side by side.
Bring the "Catherine" photo to the front and change it's size by
going to IMAGE: IMAGE SIZE. Find the DOCUMENT size, and change the WIDTH to
4 inches wide. Do not change anthing else.
1. Use the Rubber stamp/Clone Stamp tool to move the white statue from the
the Palace to Pompaii. You may need to scale it smaller for
it all to fit on the page. Start high on the page, and work your way down.
Be sure to put her on a new layer.
2. Next, go to Image: Adjustments:
PHOTO FILTER.
Find Sepia. Use this photo filter until the statue looks tonally like it "belongs"
in the same picture! Experiment & Adjust!
3. Select the sky and fill with a red, white and blue gradient. Use a separate
layer.
4. Use the Text Tool to write your name in the picture: Use any font; size:
48 points, any color.
5. While you are still clicked on the Text Tool, go to the Bar Menu at the
top of your screen, and look for the “Create Warped Text” tool
(looks like a “T” on a hill). Warp your name!
MINI LESSON #6
1.Open Monseurat2.
Turn on Rulers.
This mini lesson is about learning how to invert your selection.
Turn on your Rulers (View Menu).
Place your mouse in the ruler and DRAG to create a blue “guidelines”.
Place guidelines to mark off a 1/2 inch border on all four sides, overlapping
the photo. Next, use your rectangle selection tool to select the rectangle
you have created inside the guidlines. Go to the menu at the top of the screen
and find SELECT>INVERSE>. Now the area outside the 1/2 inch border you
created should be selected. DELETE to clear the area. It should now be white.
(Note: In order for the area you deleted to be white, you must have white
loaded in your background color.)
2. Use Shadow & Highlight and/ or Brightness & Contrast to lighten
the arch. Do not lose the richness in color when you lighten it. You should
be able to see details.
4. CURVES: Use curves to create a golden afternoon “glow”.
3. MAGIC WAND: Select the sky and use a gradient to give the sky a rich "sky”blue.
(For the most natural effect, be sure that it is lighter toward the horizon
and darker toward the top of the sky).
4. RUBBER STAMP/CLONE STAMP: Get rid of one row of windows on the right building
(VERTICAL). Be sure to carefully use the tool, so that it looks untouched!
5. PASTE INTO: The floor of the arch is divided into tiles...Select 3 of the
square tiles (simultaneously) on the floor of the arch. Use the PASTE INTO
command to add an image in the 3 spaces. You may
open any photo you wish for this purpose.
